Don't worry, Windows 8 will be even better. Its going to have a built in PDF reader called "Modern Reader." Too bad Linux and OSX have had built in PDF readers for a decade now. Typical Microsoft, "if you can't beat them, copy them!"

Shipping date on the 1.83Ghz White MB is 5-7 days. On the rest of the MBs it's 3-5.
All other comps are 24hr, apart from the iMacs which are 1-2.
Has it been like this for a while already? Is this because of shortages, or is it a sign?

It's funny...and I say this not as a rumor...just coincidence.
There was a guy in a pizza place I went for lunch that was showing his friends his phone. And it was white. I thought that was a little odd because I don't think I've ever seen a white phone, and odd that someone was showing it off.

Even if Apple makes a crappy phone, I will probably want this thing. Mainly because I am certain that Apple will make this compatible with iLife, address book, iTunes,etc.
It will be so nice to finally have a phone that can easily connect to my mac and work seemlessly with my existing address book. music, photos, safari faves, maps, etc.
I am so sick of editing syncing, tricking, teasing, and spending hours of wasted time to get data into my phone.

On the surface, Apple's position on this specific application seems ridiculous. Having said that, I don't know if the App store approval process changes much. If the iPhone was open to any application, then Apple could have taken legal action against Rogue Amoeba. I suppose it would be more difficult than just denying the app, but Apple would have a way to squash this app, if they wanted to.
I have to disagree. Rogue Amoeba in *no way* violated Trademark or Copyright rules with this. In fact, they used Apple's own OS X APIs.

My point is that any post referencing "app" and its usage is pointless to this topic, because that is not the term in question with this legal battle. If M$ and their linguist work on "app", they should lose.

Well anyways, if Apple could get Conroes into iMacs it would be great. A challenge I know (and I still personally think it is more likely to be a Merom iMac) but it would help to be that little bit more competitive. There is no margin whatsoever in commodity desktop hardware; it's THE most price-sensitive part of the PC market. Apple doesn't do things where it can't generate high margins. It's not a charity, it's a business.
What capabilities are missing from Lion as a result of iOS interface influence?
How is the Magic Trackpad "painful?" Mine is my favorite input device ever by a huge margin. My only problem with it is that Apple took about 3 years too long to release it. What would you do to make it not "painful?"

Are you in favor of the prosumer, or the elitist "pro" who thinks their app is debased by a consumer feature? Prosumers use Facebook and (especially) Flickr. Since Apple already built the feature for iPhoto, it costs them nothing to throw it into Aperture.

Now that it's part of the platform Apple has no excuse for not including it. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see a MBP with this platform that still only has 2.0 connectors.
Well, it would surprise me. USB3.0 and Thunderbolt will come included in Intel''s Ivy Bridge. Apple would have to add more hardware and disable USB 3.0 to make it 2.0 only. Makes zero cents.

You do realize DVD itself is heavily DRMed, although its CSS is easily cracked. Its Macrovision protection is flawed, and regional coding can be circumvented.
If iTS movie DRM can be cracked, would it make it a better value for you? Why are we even comparing it to DVDs? If you wish to have the convenience of portable digital downloads, then it is a great service.

I think that Apple would make their phone a GSM phone to get more worldwide market rather than releasing it on CDMA. And I doubt they'd throw in 3G on a GSM phone because Cingular's 3G network is not the biggest right now. I think I read that Sprint's PowerVision is the biggest at the moment and still growing. T-Mobile just bought a TON of 3G bandwidth but isn't launching that until next year. So I don't think 3G would be in this phone because we aren't quite there......yet.
As for UMA, I'd be surprised if it didn't have a Wifi card. There are a lot of rumors saying that T-Mobile's launching a giant UMA service, which I wouldn't be surprised with the 7,000 wireless networks they own.
Ya, i know 3G isnt that popular in America, but i expect the iPhone at least should have built-in WiFi like many Phones in today's market. So we can use the iPhone to video LIVE chat with the other Mac users or iPhone users through the internet. Since many Universities have Wi-Fi covered the whole school, so i think it will benefit abot students. And more and more hot-spot now.

Just like every other copyright, you don't have the right to breech. If Apple doesn't defend their copyright, then they can lose it, so they HAVE to fight for it.
I believe you are mistaken. As far as I know, there is no risk of losing a copyright if you failed to defend against previous infringers. If I were to guess, I think you are talking about trademark law, which is different.
There are many classic examples, but currently Adobe has a policy where it seeks to prevent people from using "Photoshop" in a generalized way, since if it solidly becomes a synonym for digital photo manipulation in the language, they will lose their trademark. If Adobe is shown to not go after those who use Photoshop in a generalized manner, in the future they will be less able to defend against it in the future.

That section states that by turning off Location Services, the data won't be tracked/collected. I think that these guys are saying that the data still is being collected, regardless of what your Location settings are.
It also appears from the granularity of the data that it isn't reliant on Core Location being active on the phone. In other words, the phone isn't logging your location only when you call up a GPS-enabled app and when the little compass needle warning icon appears in the top bar -- if it were, you'd expect most people's data to be mostly blank, with brief entries when they use Maps or another location aware feature. In our testing, however, Victor can see log entries every few minutes, all day, every day -- going back nine months. Meanwhile, Kelly H cannot see anything on her CDMA (i.e. Verizon) iPhone -- it's possible the data is only logged on GSM models. 3G iPads appear to log the info as well.

If they had already been forewarned and did it anyway, then yes, a company would have probably been kicked out (especially if they continued after a second warning).
Have you ever been to a tech convention? It is *not* a free-for-all where people roam around handing out fliers anywhere on the convention floor. Vendors are expected to stick to their designated booth that they paid for. Conventions make money by charging for floorspace. What kind of leverage would they have to charge for premium or larger floorspace, if vendors could just get the smallest booth possible, but then flood the convention floor with people handing out brochures? Even though Greenpeace is not a vendor and probably received their booth space pro-bono, they should still stick to the convention floor rules.
