I hate to be SO negative about this, but I've never understood the attraction here with a .mac account. I guess it fills the need of some people...but based on all the webmails with online storage - what is the main attraction here? Syncing? With USB storage, CDR's, DL-DVD's who would really need to use this much?
I did a little web page with iWeb (cute but TERRIBLY limiting) and thus had to get a temporary .mac account, but once built..it just sat there and slowly expired.

.mac is the Mac product in my "apple gut" that makes me cringe... very similiar to the cringe I get when I think about going back to my PC for something! Also, it reminds me of the feeling I got when I canceled my subscription to Macworld because it became iPod world...

I really just hate it. Damn! this rumor just pissed me off.

    growl.

Does anyone have access to usage numbers? I'd like to know how much .mac is used...

japan now selling external Bluray RW drive for.....USD1000....
so, if MacPro have BTO option for this...
we got to pay around USD5000 for the fastest Mac, right?
    its terrible...

i hope apple will release a nice external drive...though, insofar the only external optical drive from apple can trace back to the age of CD-Rom...

The App is great and the games are all fun from an era gone bye. I'm glad to see them released. Astroids was one of my favorites.

Heh, cool, and as with other similar storage technologies, a disc will take 123087012863018 hours to write and blank media will cost $120370860861 each for about the next 10 years. Still, cool!!!! nonetheless.

Well i'm waiting on one of these http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Firmtek/SATA1V4/ comming from Oz and one of these as well http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Sonnet%20Technology/TSATA/ thats a bit more local!

Both from fleaBay at way less than the OWC prices. The 2 port will run 2x 2.5 inch drives to become the main HD for the G4 and possibly its time machine backup. The 4 port will look after my itunes, photos etc and general backup duties.

I'll post some pix once it looks different from stock with a load of drives whirring away :D

Just got my ram ordered as well. $26 for 4x 512mb sticks

May I, & others have both please in super high res please?
Hoping to feature both on mac Mini external 20" monitor at max (late'09) and on Al_uMB. Please.

No problem :) Not sure if the Michael Jackson one will look the greatest considering that the music video that the shot was taken from was filmed in the late 80s but it should still look fine.

The larger projects are the ones you make your money on. Little jobs sometimes hardly warrant all the time in initial consultation, doing quotes, invoices, possibly banking cheques and other admin. So don't necessarily turn down good work, but just make sure you're setting your prices, not him. Charge him for every minute of author's corrections too, and make sure that's written on the quote that he signs to accept the job.

Oh, and I forgot to say before, if you do decide to take on any more work from him, make sure you get paid for these jobs first! He could be a non-payer, and then you'll really know what a nightmare client is all about!

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I definitely won't lift a finger towards another job until he pays for this one. I made sure he paid up for the logo before I started the site concept. Overall the guy gives me bad vibes. My other clients are always happy with the end result and we interact civilly. If this guy talks down to me one more, I'll politely cut him loose. Who needs the headache. :) Thanks again!

Occam's Razor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_Razor) does dictate that the explanation Apple has offered up is the most likely. Unlike what some other blogs have been claiming (:cough: Gizmodo :cough: ) it's unlikely that Apple meant to leave an unencrypted tracking database available on each phone.

Further, I examined a map of my iPhone's database and there were some unexplained blobs. Unexplained that is until I read Apple's description, and then it all fit. I flew through Atlanta 4 times in the past year, spending a total of a couple of hours there. My mapped blobs on Atlanta were much larger than the entire weeks I spent in Montana and Wyoming. The only way this makes sense is if the data is actually crowdsourced, which is exactly what Apple claims.

So I see little reason to disbelieve today's statements. (Unless you are inclined towards conspiracy theories, which an unfortunately high % of our population seem to be.)

From what I gather, it's just like LaunchBar, no?

I haven't messed with it a whole lot, so I don't know all its ins and outs, but it seemed to be doing a similiar thing (brings up applications/files as you type).

Not bad, although if they are the same idea, I prefer launch bar - just wish it was free ;)

I haven't tried Launchbar, but yes, Quicksilver brings up apps / documents / folders / etc. to a certain depth that you can specify (at least partially).

I guess it's not that hard to explain after all. :p It's very strange and different if you're not familiar with the concept of a launcher, though (at least, I thought it was strange when I first used it ;) ).

Hi all. Help with iCal please. Why does iCal automatically clear past events from calendar? My travel dates and flights for work have all disappeared. It is important that I can look back for reference for taxes, etc. Help!
