Thunderbolt will never replace USB because they serve different functions. You will never see low-bandwidth devices such as keyboard/mice/USB stick using thunderbolt because it doesn't make sense.
The real question that I haven't seen anyone ask, is will this be Intel only or will other chipsets/manufacturers support it as well.
Also I don't know if anyone mentioned it but one of the reasons Firewire never took off was because of royalty fees that need to be paid for implementing it. Thunderbolt has no royalties on it and this should help drive adoption.

I don't think that overhauling the exterior of iMac or MBP is high on Apple's priority list at the moment and I'd be surprised if it happened within the next year.

The fact that the new iMacs can't address more than 3Gb of memory and are therefore operating on a 32bit logic-board makes me doubtful as to whether or not these systems are really 64-bit capable... It seems like some kind of hybrid 32/64bit system.
Will the C2D iMacs be able to run 64bit code, despite not having the 64bit address space (and being able to access over 4Gb or RAM)?
That's why I'm sticking with my 64bit G5 iMac ;)

Coverage doesn't make products great, people make products and companies great and Cingular is lacking the soul of a great company. I had Cingular for 4 years and thought they were ok... I switched a year ago and I have never been happier. Their are actually real people running some companies not robots, it's a great feeling when you can have a normal conversation with them on the phone and not have to push 3, 5, 8, 9, 8 to get to a robotic voice called Agnes. I don't think Cingular would survive in Europe.

Just wait. I have a feeling that once people get used to buying movies off of iTS, they'll convince all their friends to buy more movies and those friends would convince their friends and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell 50m w/in 9 months. Hopefully, people will like the movies.
I hope that the iTV would someday get DVR capabilities like saving episodes on TV. Also, I'd like iPods to have radios & Airport built-in too.

You also need to add in the ball and chain that is suburban/exurban hell. Some people are chained to their five acres willingly, but many are chained to suburbia due to poor planning caused by cheap oil. The added expense of owning two or three vehicles and maintaining a suburban home on a suburban sized lot, means a lot less money for other things. People bought into the false promises of suburbia and are now paying the price.
All those monthly bills add up. I'm glad I never bought an iPhone, for example, when they first came out. I've saved a ton of money not buying the required data plan that goes comes with it. I don't want to put words in your mouth but it sounds like our priorities are all wrong and I agree.

So what? They're already getting sued by Apple, so what's another lawsuit? Point is, contract breach or not, Samsung could cripple Apple's whole ecosystem within days by halting all processor shipments. Apple makes the vast majority on iDevices and this would kill Apple's whole economic model. And this doesn't even account for Samsungs components that go into their Macs. As a result, Apple would have no hardware to sell. They would dip into their treasure chest. It could be devastating to Apple.
And then Apple would ruin Samsung, cratering them with winning lawsuits. Also, Samsung would lose their reputation in the supply chain as well as their credibility, and it would likely damage the Korean economy as a whole, and South Korea politically as well. You're talking about one company causing problems for tens of millions of consumers, and a mountain of negative news. If Samsung wanted to be bankrupted within a decade, this would be a way, for sure.

We're talking consoles, PCs, Macs, phones, tablets, media players, blue-ray players.
I think we'd see a large amount of people like this features, plus it would make the iMac a much more attractive purchase, as it would still be a fine display even after the hardware in it is too old. I know it would most likely make me go for the iMac over the Mac mini(although most likely I'm waiting for the mini before any purchases)
I can't see how those of us wanting to hook things up to our 27" iMac could be a that small group. I'm more inclined to believe this limitation has to do with Apple protectionism. I mean, like I said in a post a few pages up, there are no industry standard input ports (HDMI/DVI...) and the TB port is limited to only a small fraction of a ppm of the input devices on the market.
Sure hoping for a way to work arond Apple on this one, without going the usual Apple route - with a gazillion adapters.

Those are two different arguments of the same coin and one can infer a lot by the attitude of what is said. Besides, I notice you didn't quote anything by cwt1nospam as I mentioned (given his direct flaming nature, I don't blame you since it proves what I said).
Again, this problem only exists in pirated software or software from less-than reputable sources. As has been said many times, you can avoid trojans by being careful where you get software and what software you install. No antivirus is necessary to protect against trojans; only some common sense and prudent thinking on the part of the user.
It's been said you can avoid STDs by being careful as well. It's no substitute for protection, IMO. You can't undo what's been done sometimes.
Really, I'm sick of this thread. You're turning mountains into mole hills here all just to defend the status-quo while all I originally said is that the "it can't happen to me" attitude most Mac users have towards all forms of malware is a definite weak spot. No one is saying OSX hasn't been a great place to avoid the problems of malware. It's one of the reasons I continue to keep OSX machines around despite my distaste for Apple as a greedy company and their pathetic lack of hardware options and high prices. That doesn't mean I stop being careful when using it. Something like Web of Trust for Firefox isn't a bad idea regardless. Those are two different arguments of the same coin and one can infer a lot by the attitude of what is said. Besides, I notice you didn't quote anything by cwt1nospam as I mentioned (given his direct flaming nature, I don't blame you since it proves what I said).
Again, this problem only exists in pirated software or software from less-than reputable sources. As has been said many times, you can avoid trojans by being careful where you get software and what software you install. No antivirus is necessary to protect against trojans; only some common sense and prudent thinking on the part of the user.
It's been said you can avoid STDs by being careful as well. It's no substitute for protection, IMO. You can't undo what's been done sometimes.
Really, I'm sick of this thread. You're turning mountains into mole hills here all just to defend the status-quo while all I originally said is that the "it can't happen to me" attitude most Mac users have towards all forms of malware is a definite weak spot. No one is saying OSX hasn't been a great place to avoid the problems of malware. It's one of the reasons I continue to keep OSX machines around despite my distaste for Apple as a greedy company and their pathetic lack of hardware options and high prices. That doesn't mean I stop being careful when using it. Something like Web of Trust for Firefox isn't a bad idea regardless.
