So Apple's method could be more efficient their side, offering a spotify type model where everyone accesses the same iTunes purchased track (except this time they own it) instead of Amazon's where each indivdual track is stored in their "digital locker"?

Frame size is bigger but its also interlaced, so in truth its 720x240 every other frame, once its deinterlaced, the picture can get close to the original, but not as good as pure progressive scan. I think, i might take 640x480p over 720x480i, depends on how widescreen is handled (letterboxing vs true widescreen).
You might be right, I am not going to discuss specifics. but the truth of the matter is that the quality of a DVD is better than the 640x480. Even Apple stats that on their site.

The same thing could have been said of the Aperture software...

(I'm not saying it will happen, or that I'm expecting it, but I'm just surprised it's so easily dismissed by people who comment daily on how Apple should enter the cell phone market, DVR arena, PDA front, etc and - for the most part - scoffed at the intro of a consumer music player...)
I seem to remember something like a year ago that they were changing the entire aperture development team. Could this be a radical departure from the old Aperture?

It just occurred to me, that in Leopard iChat has a thing called Remote Desktop Express. This could easily be used in the new device to send Front Row to the TV!
Apple, I'm sure is thinking ahead. Or they plan on releasing the new iChat on the 12th.

The data is stored on YOUR phone and YOUR laptop ... Apple does not have a centralized database with that data - it is all on your devices.

More surprising than this rumor is the fact that it's the first actual MAC rumor (beyond "we've found that the Early 2011 MacBook Pros have quirks" posts) in weeks. None of that is surprising though. I wonder if there will be any surprises with this refresh? I'm guessing no Blu-Ray, which means I'm not buying one. Though I'm still curious as to what'll be under the hood.
Ummm... you do realize that rumour volume doesn't equate to Apple's interest levels or efforts in any particular product. They are almost entirely driven by web traffic and ad views numbers. If Mac News/Rumours generated the sort of traffic that iDevice rumours did I'm sure we would see the same level of "Making @^#^ up" oops sorry, I'm mean In depth analysis about the Mac as we see about iDevices.

Basically the prediction is that the combined Symbian & Windows phone market will fall from 26%+ to 21%. And how much did MS pay for that market share decrease?
Overall I believe that Apple will retain a very strong (and very profitable) position, some of the Android phone makers will fall to the way side (just like in the PC markets) and RIM will fall a lot more than is shown.
The major challenge for some of these companies will be the limited funds available for R&D, making it far more difficult for them to maintain a strong market position.

I wanted a smart phone wheres the keyboard ?
i can buy an itunes phone right now from cingular but i dont want one
what makes them think i will buy one now because its from apple and not motorola
But you just have to know that any "Apple" phone is gonna have a darn good user interface.. and that's what I'm hoping for.. almost regardless of over all shape and design, but Apple's UI. When compared with a compatible 'Itunes" phone anyway. Pretty sure I don't want a phone with a keyboard on it. but I understand why some might.

They do build in obsolescence into the ipod as you can't replace the battery (easily). It does become a disposable item, although a pricey one at that. I do love the ipod (even though I don't own one) but this puts me off to the point where I just can't go through with actually buying one. My experience with rechargeable batteries in mobile phones and lap top isn't good.
Meh, don't worry about the batteries. Sure, some people have problems, but my 3G ipod is still doing surprisingly well! It may have lost a little bit of charge since I bought it but it still lasts at least 7 hours. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe it knows it needs to behave before the sweet widescreen video ipod comes out. Or else. :D

But MS never consistently used the term App to describe any part of their business. Sure it pops up occasionally here and there, almost at random, but that's about it. Historically they've always used 'Programs'. So to use your example, why couldn't they say: "We have this thing called Marketplace. What is it? Well, it's a place where you can buy programs.....". Why are they not happy with that? It will line up so much better with their software genealogy.
I suspect the truth of the matter is they now want to start using 'App' for everything (instead of Programs), because Apple has popularized the term. Its on everybody's tongue now. Interesting coincidence. I just got off the line with someone who just told me how her brother was killed 2 weeks ago in a car wreck. A 16 year old was doing 55 in a 35 in a brand new Toyota truck, he hit her brother, t-boned, and he was killed instantly.
So yes, at 16 when you're speeding, you're clearly an awesome and safe driver. :rolleyes: I'm sure this could have happened to anyone by anyone, but at 16 in a nice fancy new car, I'm betting you're more impressed with yourself than you are with the laws on the road.
I'm 20 going 2x the speed limit, in this case the posted limit is 80mph (my car won't go any faster...)
safe driving has nothing to do with age, in face most elderly people are utterly horrible drivers. It all has to do with attention span, (which elderly people just don't have all together) to the point, so long as no one/thing is distracting most young people are great drives.

I disagree. At 16 you lack the years of experience that come in handy when traveling at such high speeds. However, I agree with yg17, it's a bell curve. Elderly people seem to regress into the 16 year old drivers of today. (well some, some 16 year olds think driving 20 mph over the limit is safe and funtastic!)

The Intel 3000HD still isn't supported by the Video Decode Acceleration Framework (VDA for short) that Apple released in 2010 to enable Adobe to implement hardware decoding of H.264 video. So right now, a MBA is offloading decoding to the nVidia 320M, while a new SB MBA would revert to standard CPU decoding, throwing us back to the dark ages of ****** Flash, where we now have passable Flash.

Well, it looks like I wont be getting this phone now. Sorry, I'm Verizon and so are all the people I talk to, so I'm not gonna switch for this.
Yeah, I am in the same boat.
For me Cingular is the worst because I can't get it to work at my home and work. I have Verizon, is OK. but at least work. The truth is every carrier has a problem. I am still waiting to find somebody that says their carrier is 100% great and they are satisfied.
I hope iphone will work on other carriers. If not I'll wait until it comes with Verizon or any other carrier other than Cingular.

so the program can not find the file. Does that mean my iPhone isnt tracking me?
I was just about to post the same thing; the application says that it couldn't find the consolidated.db file. I even tried syncing my iPhone once more and it still didn't help. An interesting note though - I own a Verizon iPhone. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
