I hope this eventually leads to Sound Blaster support for macs.

You made a simple claim:
"Thunderbolt will be 'Mac only'"
It won't be, you were proven wrong, now get over it. Maybe you missed the title of this topic?
"Intel to Support Both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt in 2012 'Ivy Bridge' Platform"
First, no I made no such claim. I responded to one. And the claim wasn't that it will be restricted to being Mac only, but that it will end up being Mac only, in the same sense that FW is. Some PC ship with FW, but not many. It is considered a Mac only interface. The gist is that TB may as well, if history repeats. You didn't prove anything. You see many PC's shipping with TB right now? How many PC vendors have announces support for TB? The unfortunate fact is that consumers know the USB brand, so the vendors will support it. TB might be in Intel's spec, but that doesn't mean every system will support it nor that many drive vendors will either.
See econgeek's post. It explains is pretty well.

Apple, Google, or my phone provider storing this information in their servers is a different issue than it being stored on the phone.
Yes, because it's out of your possession and likely easily accessible by those who want it. The data on your phone, however, is in your possession.

There is a video demonstrating Thunderbolt tech transfer speed. Soft meter gives around 700mb/s but it copies 4,42gb in 14 so its like 350mb/s. Best SSD hd transfer are around 250mb/s, its a nice improvement...

If this is a product called showtime, that could be a Bad Thing (tm). A media application that has the same name as the movie channel? Sounds like grounds for a trademark lawsuit to me. Mighty Mouse is a little harder to cause consumer confusion: one's an computer mouse, the other is a cartoon character. But a movie software application and a movie channel? hmmmmm....

And I'm honestly kind of impressed that the MacBook Pro still doesn't give you an option to buy one without a DVD drive; I have a 2011 MBP and I swear, it doesn't get any use whatsoever. Apple's obsession with using every square millimeter of space on a portable device apparently ends when it comes to optical disk drives on MBPs.
It doesn't happen because what they should really be putting is Blu-Ray.

There are people trying to paint this as though any tablet or mobile phone is similar to the rest so Apple has no case. Not true. Apple is suing one company for a copy so close that it is hard to see the difference.

Looks like Apple copied palm just changed the background to white and the icons to a square!
LOL - right. And that pinch and zoom feature on the palm was tremendous.

From Nilay's post:
The first four seem flimsy in light this..

Wow. Good find. How is Apple even gonna dispute that.
Bottom Line, with this lawsuit, Apple has clearly declared they see Samsung as a very real threat. Samsung is MASSIVE. They are a true OEM. Look how they were able to pull off a revised Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a span of 2 months. That's true OEM muscle being flexed. Apple Knows this, hence their request to have the Galaxy devices removed from market.
What an absolute joke. I'm still a little shocked Apple is even suing.

I kindly ask you to not put words in my mouth I've never written. I've never called you 'moron' or 'stupid' or using foul language about you. 'Keep your insults for yourself next time' is not a very kind thing to say, and I am actually wondering whether I should report you to the moderator.
I'm sorry, you're right, the other guy was saying we were "stupid", you were saying we were "addicts" for using a MBA to play games on. Much better and not insulting at all.
As for my own "Keep your insults to yourself", please do report it. I don't even see what is "not nice" about telling you to not insult people here. I am not an addict because I play Civilization on my MBA, no matter what you think about it.
Just remember I didn't report you and the other guy for both making fun of people who game on MBAs.

Canada is sounding awfully good to me right now.
Taxes, cell phone fees, gas and car prices are higher here. Pay for professional jobs also seems relatively lower compared to the US.

I really doubt that Apple will put a TV tuner in this thing (if it's real). Think about it -
Point 1 - If Apple puts a tuner in then they have to deal with the myriad of different types of TV.
Point 2 - THEY SELL TV SHOWS!
Does Steve want you to Tivo the new episode of "The Office" on your "MediaMac/Airport Express Video/Super iPod" or does he want you to come to the iTunes store and download it for $2? Apple, despite most of our (including my own) beliefs is a business and they have to think of the $$$ first.
Why give something away when you can make money off it? That's still my theory as to why the mini didn't have a tuner from the start.
They might want to make money off of the millions of people who watch TV outside of the US (where they don't sell their TV shows). They also don't have to provide for every TV possibility, just as EyeTV doesn't cover all options (and I agree with others that EyeTV is a good solution, but why not have a true Apple alternative?).

This is why it's a really bad idea to set yourself up as an application gatekeeper.
And who watches the gatekeeper? Yep, politicians and special interest groups looking for easy publicity.

well, in the past they have run this promotion and released new product without adding it to the rebate. so... i guess it would not be strange, no.
Although I agree the post was condescending, Apple did in fact add MacPros to the iPod promotion when they were released.

This could be either really big or really bad. Either way, I don't see it going over to well without a burn to DVD option. It also needs a settop media mac. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how everything develops. Good thing I'll be in Milwaukee on the 12th. I might want to go to Mayfair to see how everything went.
I live in Milwaukee so maybe I'll see you at Mayfar on the 12th. :)
