    I lost all respect for that character when he fed Scott Tenorman's parents to him in chili.

    He is a sick little freak, no doubt about it. Making anyone, even your supposed nemesis, consume their parents in a bowl of chili is just messed up.

    I've not seen the latest Steve Irwin episode - I have a feeling I'm not going to be amused by a parody about his death. Still, I'm reserving personal judgment until I see it.

    Of course, they've never really cared if people get offended, even their own voice actors (Issac Hayes).

    Loved that one to, b/c TCLTC.

    LOL

    The article you are quoting was published two years ago....

    Oh you are right, i didn't really check the date. But am sure it's somewhat related to this, since Woo was to invest some serious money to win the market, and now he has the serious money he needs.

    100m is still a massive amount of cash, but only roughly 1/100 of Apples total cash. And Apple has gained a couple of things too like the 'made for iPod' logo on their No.1 competitor, which only standardizes the iPod even more.

    Also the most important thing they gained is that they are now 'co-owners' of the patent. And when Creative decides to sue somebody else for patent infringement (Zune), Apple will join the fun too and am sure in that case they'll get most of their money back.

    i thought this from my first post, but his join date is 08, and he's a regular. that is what has me thinking that what he is saying is really how he thinks/acts.

    Flame me if you must, but what is the sense in having multiple cores if the software running on it doesn't take advantage of it? Same thing with advertising the new chips as being 64 bit. That's great, but I don't have anything (not in beta) that can use it.

    Apple themselves have never been great at making use of multiple processors (in tandem), so I'm not getting how 4, 8, 32 cores makes much difference?How many times do I need to remind some of you that it doesn't matter if applications can only use one or two cores? You can run a bunch of things at once with all these cores at your disposal. That to me is what's important, as I think so should you think - not that one application can't use more than one or two cores. If anything, it's a good thing some only use one or two cores.

    You can run a bunch of things at once - Simultaneously - with all these cores at your disposal. That's what's important - not that one application can't use more than one or two cores. On the contrary. If I had 8 cores I wouldn't have to quit Mail all the time.

    Do you realize that Mail uses 100% of a core ALL THE TIME? If I leave it open I only have 3 cores to work with. I mean it's rediculous. I have to QUIT Mail to do my work. Absurd.

    We Need More Cores And We Need Them NOW!According to the Page 2 Rumors there are some significant speed ups to OpenGL in the next update to 10.4 due to multithreading. Apple has had 4 processor systems for over a year now. I would think they have some ideas about how to make use of it.

    Things like the next version of iChat... 1 core to run some application, another for the computer to compress that image into a nice stream to be broadcast over the net, and another to do the actual operation of iChat and the OS and whatever else you have in the background at the time.

    There are all sorts of stupid (and not so stupid) ways to eat up processor cycles if you have them. :rolleyes:You took the words right out of my fingers. Bravo sisyphus.

    I highly doubt it. Remember, when Apple gets big, they'll have the group of haters that follow Microsoft claiming monopoly.

    Well Apple isn't afraid of buying companies. The whole idea for the iPod came not from Apple but from a company they took over.

    "Awesome?"

    *jumps into Windows 7 in Parallels to check it out again*

    "Awesome???" :confused:

    It's awesome by contrast to Vista. It's the best Windows version to date. I like to have a Windows box around for games and stuff.

    Section 4b of the software license agreement explains it all:

    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iphone.pdf

    Interesting read. Except it only mentions the iPhone. Doesn't say anything about the iPad.
    Apple isn't the only one doing this though. If you have a cell phone, your tracked. But everyone should know this anyway. I peaked at some of the data on my backup (listed earlier). According to the agreement about, states as long as your device is not identifiably, they can do this. Am pretty sure somewhere in all that data your device is identified. Example: plug your iPhone, iPod or iPad in another Mac, you get the warning your device IS synced with another computer.
    Will be interesting how this plays out.

    No one likes drunk drivers. No one. Period. That being said, Apple should not pull the App. Speed trap apps will be next (Trapster)... Keep the app store open to everything thats legal. This is no different than a friend calling you telling you to avoid a check point. Neither is illegal.

    I agree. These apps are only letting people share information. If law enforcement doesn't want people avoiding the traps and checkpoints, then they should randomize their placement. They can quickly render these apps useless by simply changing their methods. That solves the problem without impinging or seeming to impinge upon any free speech issues.

    In fact, the notion that these apps exist at all demonstrates that people are sharing this information. I'd wager this was happening on forums or IRC (or through other means) on the QT well before the apps themselves were created. If they get the apps removed, it will still be happening. Law enforcement should be glad to learn that their methods have been circumvented, and that they should change them.

    The problem with stolen Apple products would be no Applecare.

    Incorrect.

    Even with a police report, the AppleCare is still valid for liability reasons. At least this is my experience working at a University where there have been thefts in the past.

    Does anyone else think something more might be coming? With the price drop of both models and the lack of drastic changes ie the rumored full screen, bluetooth, and virtual click wheel?
    Could there be a "one more thing..." next week?
    Apple will eventually introduce a true video iPod.

    My guess will be after bigger 1.8 inch HDs are released.

    I don't expect this until after New Years.

    I agree. Sometimes I think this kind of lawsuits are a stretch and a bit silly, but not this time. When there's confusion even to me as a geek after a quick glance on these smarthpones, I have to agree that it's gone too far.

    For me all phone look relatively the same at a glace so I always look at the buttons first.

    1 button - Apple
    4 buttons - Android
    3 button - Windows Phone

    Then I look for a logo to differentiate further.

    Huge win for Apple, hands down.

    $100m is not chump change but for a company with Apple's size it comes close.

    On top of that Apple gets to recoup at least some of that if Creative decides to license the technology in question.

    On top of that Creative is entering the "made for iPod" market, which only adds to the iPod allure.

    On top of that iPod interface doesn't change.

    Dare I dream? How about a quad processor quad core system! 16 cores in all!!!

    I hope they at least keep dual processors in the pro machines if they start using these so we get 8 cores. Then toss one of these suckers in a mini.

    Are we looking into the jaws of the future where you pay, but never OWN anything? Music, Movies, Apps.

    You don't own anything you download from the iTunes store now. You hold a license and are allowed to play or view it, but you do not own it.

    macpro dead in 2 years...my prediction:mad:

    Probably yes, Apple has been making Mac Pro upgrades less and less frequently, so I guess it will just be a self fulfilling prophecy.

    On topic, I guess I would choose the trackpad, but just because I never use Apple mice anyway (I have a fine Logitech) so for curiosity's sake, I'd take the trackpad.

    Would I use it? Nope. That's what the Logitech is for. ;)

    136 negatives to this story ... nice. :rolleyes:

    Any perceived hit towards censorship obviously trumps the value of human life. :rolleyes:
    I wonder how many who posted here in favor of removing these apps, are also supporters of wikileaks? i'm sure it's a significant number. how ironic.

    How about you duervo, you a wikileaks fan? hmm?
    The true irony here is your blatant assumption that is based on nothing more than a "gut feeling".
    ok... so will you answer my question then please?
    and silence from duervo. how unsurprising.

    Mind me asking you how high your unemployment rate is, and do you believe what your media tells you is true, or is the rate much higher than what is known?

    Last I heard the unemployment rate in FL was reported to be around 12% and falling slowly. I feel secure in my job.

    I'm not really sure who or what you mean by "the media". I get local news from the local newspaper and most everything else from NPR. As for the relative accuracy and/or truthfulness of these outlets, I try to apply the principles of Occam's Razor and generally don't worry about it beyond that.

    I have just called SJ, and he told me the following:

    - iTMS Movie Store;

    - MBPs with Merom, and the new MBP 12";

    - MacMini with Core Duo;

    - iMacs with Conroe;

    - Apple IIGS 2006 Edition.

    Could you ask them when we'll get Core 2 for the new Powerbooks?

    LOL. I understand that you're speaking in jest, but honestly I don't see Apple implementing the Movie Store differently w/ PC users. Remember that the iPod/iTunes didn't explode in popularity until they were PC-friendly. If the PC side had anything different in it's implementation like your post implies, then I highly doubt the iPod/iTunes would have been as successful as it is now.

    w00master

    i know, but in that case apple has to port front row to windows. Or they have to implement front row into itunes or something like that, so that it will work exactly the same way on windows as on mac. as long as they have itunes installed. but that way, all media files (movie store movies, avi, divx, video_ts folders and even photo's) should be stored inside itunes.
